Driekus & Joalette

Pearl Harbour Inspired Session

“If I had one more night to live… I’d want to spend it with you.”-Evelyn Johnson(Pearl Harbour)

Here is definitely one of my favourite shoots of the year as I am all about vintage! I can’t wait for this wedding next year! This was of course our winning couple from the competition that was held earlier this year by myself and Lieflingkind Design!

When I asked Joalette what their favourite movie was she replied whithin seconds “Pearl Harbour” and that is when I knew that this was going to be an epic shoot.

With vintage flair and a modern twist we used fur and Driekus borrowed Joalette’s dad’s millitary uniform to make it perfect and we even got to use the airport as our location.

I loved the way these two fell into character and acted their parts and I even got a chance to be a part of it by doing the hair and make-up.

So here it is, enjoy all all the vintage loveliness!

Boudoir Couture

“Boudoir has nothing to do with sexuality but rather sensuality, it is all about a story that is told with the eyes and the body.”Natalie Loots

I can’t believe this session was already three years ago but it is still one of my favourites ever! I re-edited some of the images and looking back I can see how much I have grown in my work!

Everyday I still thank my lucky stars for everyone who supports me in everything that I do.

In this session I had some pro models, pro hairstylists and a pro make-up artist and today we have all grown in our professional and personal lives.

It is rather nice to have a throwback every now and then.

Willem & Natasha

“Love doesn’t make the world go round, it makes the ride worthwhile.”

– Franklin P. Jones

This was one of my favourite weddings for 2014 and it was an absolute coral fantasy!

Willem and Natasha are such an amazing couple and their day was perfect, something out of a fairytale with the most gorgeous flowers, bunting galore and intimate moments that most photographers would go wild for. I am still to this day inlove with Natasha’s dress, it was an absolute stunner and only complimented her beauty.

Rose Garden Styled Bride

Dress supplier: Bella Sposa

Stationer: Lieflingkind Design (www.lieflingkind.co.za)

Model: Ulrike Drake

MUAH: Ulrike Drake

Styling: Cathleen Loots

Cake: Thanks Gran 😉

A while ago I was comissioned by the owner of a new bridal boutique in Polokwane to do a styled shoot with some of her gorgeous dresses. She also insisted on using one of my regular models Ulrike to represent her brand and this is what we came up with in colaboration with Lieflingkind Design who did some fab quick thinking stationery the night before the shoot.

Be sure not to miss our friendly feline friends who came to visit during the shoot. I always have the luck of the draw to somewhere in my shoots have animals, wanted or unwanted. Also thanks to my grandmother for the DIY “Joode Tert” as we call the cake. It is an old recipe that has been passed down in the family and tastes just as good as it looks. Big thanks also to Ulrike for the hair and make-up (Yes she is a qualified MUAH as well!).

Enjoy all the loveliness!

Marsala Valentine

“To the romantic soul, the rituals of Valentine’s Day echo every day of the year.”
Richelle E. Goodrich

Muah: Chriselle Potgieter House of Tamar

Designer: Mengouchi Haute Couture

Stationery: Lieflingkind Design

Styling: Cathleen Loots

Models: Zelmari Bacher & Henru Gouws

As Marsala is 2015’s Pantone colour of the year we decided to use it as our February styled shoot colour and we simply overdosed on it!

Instead of using it as a wedding colour we decided to use it as part of a styled engagement, to show how easy it can be to setup something elegant without breaking the bank. Even just for a special date you can raid your mother’s house and create something magical!

Freddie & Jenel Say I do

“You are unrepeatable. There is a magic about you that is all your own… ”-D.m. Dellinger

This couple has grown so close to my heart in such a short time and I just adored capturing their big day and even working on the images afterwards. Each image more gorgeous than the one before and Jenel giving true meaning to the words bridal glow and bridal bliss. Nothing from this wedding can be described as normal or everyday from the tractor that was used as a wedding car, to the actual wedding being just three hours (yes from 4pm to 7pm) and lastly the miniature green Jeep carrying the flower girls and later the normal sized version carrying the happy couple of into the sunset in a rain of popcorn confetti. I just loved the golden hour light cast over the outdoor venue, which made my job so much easier as I got to grab the couple in the middle of the dancefloor to get a sunset shot! Surrounded by the animals she loves (horses) and with Freddie’s layed back style, I think this was one amazing wedding setting!

English Garden Tea (Pantone Wedding Inspiration)

Inspiration/ Styled session

“Soft, cool hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.

Leatrice Eiseman Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®

Stationery: Lieflingkind Design

MUAH: Angelique Make up and Hair

Dresses: Mengouchi Haute Couture

Venue: Glenshiel Hotel

Styling: Cathleen Loots

Models: Tiane Stroh, Essie Badenhorst

When the pantone colours for Spring 2015 were released I knew this was going to be a great year for weddings and creatives in general. I decided right then and there on my next inspiration shoot as I fell inlove with all the different blues and the strawberry ice. Yet again we sourced our gorgeous dresses from Erika Mengouchi Haute Couture, who actually made a grey veil to exactly match a dress, and Angelique from Angelique Make-up and Hair was willing to help us make the models look their best and make our vision come to life.

The stationery for this styled session was unique because of our desision to use the marbling technique and even though it kept her awake a few nights in a row, Colleen from Lieflingkind Design did a fantastic job using the Pantone colour of the year: Marsala. We used the marbling to fit the english theme as they would normally have a marble cake, we gave it a twist and also used some penny-farthings to round it off. Instead of a normal table number we used letters of the alphabet made out of wood, which kept with the english theme inspired by the setting of Glenshiel Manor in Magoebaskloof.

Glenshiel Hotel was setup in an old english manor house and it was the perfect spot for this session as I have been in awe of it’s beauty since I was a child. To fit in with the abundance of flowers at the venue we incorporated flowers into the model’s hair and made basket bouquets which doubled as arrangements.

The cake on the table was a swiss roll and the guest favours were fudge and salted caramel which matched the colours of the décor and were supplied by Woolworths. To keep with the colours on the table and the theme of an english tea we used scones with marmalade and crumpets with blueberries.

Enjoy the stunning view that we had when visiting this venue as well as some lovely images.

“Daisy: What kind of a garden do you come from?

Alice: Oh, I don’t come from any garden.

Daisy: Do you suppose she’s a wildflower?”

-Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

We had so much fun on this shoot even though it was crazy hard work with so many people and suppliers involved. Me, Erika and Colleen brain stormed on ideas for a styled shoot for Erika’s amazing creations for a while before coming up with this magical setting and wow was it worth every second! From sets being built, to hand crafted invitations and Erika specially designing and making dresses we all worked over time to get everything ready. In the end we also got Venita to participate and I absolutely adore her jewellery!

So enjoy each and every detail from the wild flowers to the real life rabbits!
